I participated in my first Startup Weekend (@StartupWeekend) this past weekend. The basic idea of the weekend is simple - create a company in one weekend. The project I worked on was HealthySurprise.com - a subscription healthy snack subscription service.

Today is the exciting launch of Mahalo 4 - the next major version of the site. The new site is a complete redesign and features a variety of new features. With the new version comes a pivot in Mahalo's strategy as a company. We are moving away from a "Human Powered Search" engine to a destination learning site where you can "Learn Anything." Learn Anything is our new official tagline as we strive to become the brand associated with education online.

This Week in Social Media | August 27, 2010 This week we talked to Amanda Peyton from the startup Message Party, which was just released at Y Combinator's Demo Day. Message Party is a new app that allows you create ad hoc location based chat rooms. We had a great conversation about the new app, Y Combinator as well as the location based social networking space.
This Week in Social Media | August 6, 2010 This week we spoke with Kurt Daradics who is the cofounder of City Sourced. City Sourced provides crowd-sourced community driven reporting of community issues such as trash, vandalism, potholes as well as other items. We had a great discussion on crowd-sourcing as well as geo-location based mobile apps.
This Week in Startups | March 21, 2010 I was excited to jump into This Week in Startups Episode #46 with guest David Heinemeier Hansson (the creator of Ruby on Rails and Partner at 37signals). I came in towards the latter half of the show to discuss the weekly news. Check out the episode below or on This Week in.
